Refuel – Planet Patience
Hey kids, are you ready to refuel our Ramadan Rover? Get ready, 3…2…1… Woohoo! Our rover has landed safely on Planet Patience. Fasting for a whole day and doing it for 30 days straight might seem like an impossible task, but with patience, we can do it. When we don’t have any food to eat, even small things can annoy us. But if we have patience, we can get through it all.
Planet Patience
In Ramadan, we go through a good training of patience. We train our stomach to practice patience by not eating anything even though we are hungry. We practice patience by not drinking even a sip of water even if our throats are dry from thirst. We practice patience when we control our anger even if someone makes us really mad.

RAMADAN COUNTDOWN CHAIN
Objective:
Learning to wait for means knowing how to appreciate the value of things, have self-control, and also recognize the needs of others. A Ramadan Countdown Chain is a good way for children to track their fasts. By removing a chain at the end of each day, children will realize the passing of days and time. Children will learn patience by waiting to take down a chain at the end of each day.
Directions:
•Cut the colored card/paper into strips. Make sure you have 30 (one for each day).
• In the center of each strip, write the numbers 1 to 30.
• Using a stapler or tape, join the two ends of the strip of paper that says #1 and make it into a circle. Take the strip of paper that says #2 and thread it through the first circle. Tape or staple it closed. Use each strip to make a chain attaching in order. Attach each chain either using tape or a stapler.
•Once all chains are attached you can hang this up.
•Your child can remove one chain each day until the end of Ramadan.
Materials Needed:
• colored paper
• safety scissors
• sticky tape or stapler
